Lenovo C540: First Impressions

Initial Expectations

All in one (AIO) desktops never really piqued my interest much. I had one when they originally burst onto the scene, and they were big, ugly, and heavy. When I came across the Lenovo C540 and it’s beautiful 23″ full 1080p touchscreen display, I instantly figured, why not? This is not a review, I have not had it long enough to provide you with an accurate and honest review, this is simply an overview of the machine and a few pros and cons so far.

Specs

  • 23″ 1920×1080 Full HD LED touchscreen (with backlight)
  • Intel® 3rd generation Core i3 processor, clocked at 3.4GHz
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM (expandable up to 16GB, two slots)
For some reason Best Buy only says 8GB, I can personally attest to 16GB
  • 1TB Hard Drive (SATA)
  • Graphics 2500 Integrated GPU

The Good

There is a lot that I really like about this AIO desktop. For starters the visuals are top notch, automatic brightness coupled with very minimal glare/reflection make great eye candy. The C540 is also really fast, again I have only had it for 24 hours at the time of writing this, but so far it is just super fluid, and loads everything I have thrown at it so far almost instantaneously.

The Not so Good

The only true complaint that I have so far is the graphics while playing a game. Even simple games like Angry Birds do not look like they should on such a good desktop.

Overall

Once I have some more time with the C540 I will go much more in-depth with the software included, some of the stress tests I plan on putting it through, and the performance drop (if any) because it is brand new, it is supposed to be quick and fluid at this stage.
