After acquiring SmartThings home automation hardware for $200 million last year, Samsung announced that there will be a next-gen smart home hub and monitoring service. Samsung fans had to deal with a delayed March release so they could “get the experience to the point where it needs to be.” Seems like we don’t have to wait that long anymore as the company just confirmed that the SmartThings home hub and monitoring service will go on sale in September in a recent blog post. Unlike the old the hardware, the next-gen SmartThings hardware will be more powerful, handle processing locally not in the cloud and improved functionality when your internet is out. We expect to get more info in weeks to come, those interested can pre-order the $99 Hub from SmartThings or on Amazon now.
